Kamala Harris, a 55-year-old woman, was born in Oakland California. She is the first Black Asian-American candidate for the vice presidency in the history of the United States. She is a sponsor of Senator Bernie Sander’s Medicare for All bill.
This bill aims to remove private health insurance by creating a single system for paying. However, she isn’t very loyal to her position with this and frequently changes her stand until she releases her version. Her bill aims to maintain the private insurance but with limit and to remove the payment raising taxes on the middle class.
Also, she describes herself as a progressive leader even when she was still a prosecutor. She said that she is more of a pragmatic problem solver and she is for leftward issues such as death penalty and gay marriage but doesn’t go further which makes liberals feel enraged.
She has a hint of being a democrat but there is still a sense of moderation, unlike other progressive vocal leaders. She believes that her identity is unique and makes her suitable to fight for the people who were ignored by society until now.
